Where Lewis NP students train in the south and southwest Cook suburbs

From Lemont to Lansing

This guide combines the Cook County Department of Public Health's Southwest and South districts, counted here through Lemont, Orland, Palos, Stickney, Worth, Bloom, Bremen, Calumet, Rich and Thornton townships. The southwest half takes in Oak Lawn, Evergreen Park, Burbank, Bridgeview, Hickory Hills, Alsip, Blue Island, Worth, Chicago Ridge, the Palos communities, Orland Park and Lemont; the south half runs through Tinley Park, Oak Forest, Midlothian, Harvey, Markham, Hazel Crest, Country Club Hills, Matteson, Olympia Fields, Flossmoor, Homewood, Chicago Heights, Park Forest, Richton Park, South Holland, Dolton, Calumet City and Lansing.

The ten townships counted 796,570 residents in July 2025, and the state's hospital report card lists six hospitals among them. Hickory Hills and Evergreen Park were once Lewis locations; its graduate nursing labs are now at Oak Brook.

Palos, Little Company of Mary, Ingalls and Olympia Fields

• Northwestern Medicine Palos Hospital, Palos Heights. Palos Health joined Northwestern Medicine on January 1, 2021. Northwestern's public APRN application covers only its north and northwest suburban hospitals, and no Palos-specific student process was found. Lewis lists Palos for undergraduate clinicals.
• OSF HealthCare Little Company of Mary Medical Center, Evergreen Park. On OSF's clinical education page, advanced practice students, APRNs included, write to a contact set aside for them, while OSF Medical Group office placements have their own student-experience contact. OSF says students from its own two nursing colleges and from other accredited programs complete rotations with it.
• UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial, Harvey. Also listed by Lewis for BSN clinicals; UChicago Medicine posts no NP student process for outside schools.
• Olympia Fields Hospital, formerly Franciscan Health Olympia Fields. Prime Healthcare completed the purchase on May 11, 2026, and on Sept. 1, 2026 named it one of two maternal-care centers of excellence; no public Prime page explains how its Illinois hospitals handle NP students.

South-suburban settings for each Lewis practicum

• NURS 61100 and NURS 61800 fit the health center sites of Aunt Martha's, Family Christian, Christian Community, ACCESS and Grand Prairie, plus family and internal medicine offices in Orland Park, Tinley Park and Homewood.
• For the FNP's NURS 64100 (women) and NURS 64300 (infants and children), aim at community gynecology and pediatric offices; Advocate Children's Hospital - Oak Lawn is the pediatric landmark here. Our women's and pediatric page sets out both.
• Acute care, NURS 62500 then NURS 62700: Advocate, at Christ and South Suburban, places Illinois inpatient NP students when the preceptor is already arranged, and Palos, Little Company of Mary, Ingalls and Olympia Fields round out the hospital list.
